personal: i finished my first job of the year. patting myself on the back a little because i need it. hooray me!
plans: next up on my plate is my first ever flickr hire. i have taken jobs through myspace and my own website before, but this will be a whole new experience. since flickr is a photo based community, it will be interesting to see how the client reacts online. i am booked up to june and really looking forward to seeing how my style changes over the next few months. right now i am satisfied with my work flow and post processing skills. i need to find another edge to keep ahead of the pack. there are SO many photographers out there! lots of my friends are having babies so i will be expanding my services to newborns. i am very excited about that. soft light and wrinkley skin, YUM!
about the images: i had a really great time spending the afternoon with the C family. the 3 boys were so full of personality and life. i wish i could have spent more time talking to them, but i had a job to do! while the sun was still harsh we played in the shadows of beautiful trees and as seen, a lifegaurd tower. we took full advantage of the beautiful hawaiian suroundings and captured some real moments of them just being a family. these images are my favorites out of the 150+ that i sent to the family.

location: this year my family got another chance to explore the amazing continental island of australia. it wasn't your typical hotel and kangaroo expedition. we stayed in holiday/caravan parks and ventured out on our own almost every one of our eleven days of vacation. we flew on hawaiian air from honolulu to sydney on new years eve. we arrived just in time to enjoy the bridge fireworks from quay circle. last year, we explored NSW including sydney, royal national park, blue mountains, and northern beaches. this year we hopped on another plane up to QLD. we flew to the gold coast for a couple days then we were on yet another plane to cairns. we drove up to port douglas a few too many times and then south to a park and a handful of waterfalls and gorges. we also visited the tourist trap in the mountains, kuranda. the rainforest is amazing up there, but it was a bit strange seeing a huge souvenir market in the middle of nowhere. our favorite and most expensive adventure was our day trip out to the great barrier reef on an educational eco-tour.
about the images: as we walked back to hyde park, the fireworks were still going strong. the children were asleep and we all desperately needed a long hot shower after the ten hour flight. i caught a quick snap of the bridge as we walked up young street. the next week we found ourselves chasing waterfalls to soothe the humid daze that seemed to slow everything down. on the hottest day of our trip we strolled through 80 year old trees on lovers lane in paronella park. on our last day we were back in sydney and hit darling harbour hard. i think the kids had the best time . i guess that is what a vacation is all about.

introduction: i am marina from hawaii. i am in love with my life and my family. i am a professional photojournalist and enjoy working with some of the best people on this planet. weddings: i really love the excitement and high emotions that people share on their wedding day. the details inspire and the bride becomes my muse. intimacy is my key to get the right images that capture the heart and soul of the day.
about the images: i first met barry and jamie in high school. at the time they were separate entities, but now, by love and by law, they are one. the wedding was full of surprises including two chinese dragons, bubbles, a hawaiian prayer circle, and an exhilarating flamenco dance by the bride. it was a great pleasure working for them and sharing their special day with 300+ of their closest friends and family. xoxo, marina
